Creating Your First Invoice

Walk through creating, customizing, and sending your first invoice to a client.

Create a New Invoice

1. Navigate to Invoices in the sidebar. 2. Click "+ New Invoice" to open the invoice editor. 3. Select the client from the dropdown (or create a new one inline). 4. The invoice number will be auto-generated in the format INV-YYYY-NNNN. 5. Set the issue date and payment due date.

Add Line Items

1. Click "Add Line Item" to add products or services. 2. Enter a description, quantity, and unit price for each item. 3. Optionally select from your catalog of offerings for pre-filled items. 4. Apply tax rates if configured in Settings > Tax Rates. 5. Add discounts at the line-item or invoice level. 6. Review the subtotal, tax, and total amounts.

Customize and Send

1. Add a personal note or payment instructions in the "Notes" field. 2. Attach any supporting documents (proposals, timesheets, etc.). 3. Preview the invoice using the "Preview" button. 4. Click "Send" to email the invoice directly to the client. 5. The client will receive a link to view and pay the invoice online. Once sent, the invoice becomes immutable. You can issue a credit note or create a revised invoice if changes are needed.
